Floating and sinking, drifting and dragging

In today’s issue of the Daily Cardinal you can find my review of director Götz Spielmann’s Revanche (2008), which is now playing at the Orpheum. If print isn’t really your thing, here’s a link to the online version.

Seeing Revanche marked the first time I’d ever seen a film at the Orpheum. Strange venue for cinema. Huge flat concrete gulf separating the screen from the front row. Wonderfully noisy projector. Sounds from the restaurant’s kitchen infiltrating the acoustic space, turning up on the radars of even those of us who were seated up front. Maybe six people were there, at the most. Cheap tickets, $5.50. Sunday matinees, I guess.
